Early StartUp Days

I don’t think I really knew what I was getting myself into with MediFare. Cost transparency and health care pricing had been an interest of mine since medical school, when I did an elective on healthcare policy and the Affordable Care Act.

As I entered residency, I thought I would do something academic and research healthcare pricing and write a paper on it. As it were, it is very difficult to get data from hospitals about what they charge and how much they are paid. It is even harder still to get data on heart transplants when that is your major clinical area of interest.

Our nation’s struggle with gun policy seems support that in order to effect change, we cannot rely on the government to pass legislation. While universal healthcare or even sponsored coupons to offset astronomic healthcare costs would likely be widely embraced, it seems unlikely that I will see these measures implemented in my lifetime.

Therefore, I’ve come to rely on the private sector and my own foray into business to try to make healthcare prices more transparent. MediFare is here to uncover the cost of your care. Save the surprises for a party—not your healthcare bill.
